IT TURNS OUT THAT the Google van rolled through the East Beaches when we were working in the neighbourhood on Kingmount Park Road, and they caught us on film! You can easily identify the Green Apple truck, and even though the software censors have blurred their faces, you can still recognize John, Victor, and Carlos. Ha! Hey, what are you doing there? This isn’t a coffee break! Get back to work! I’m watching you! Just kidding, these guys are real hard workers. I’m sure that the in-house pixel-pushers at Google just Photoshop’d the heavy equipment out of John’s hands. Yeah, that’s it…
GOOD GOING, PETER! Our main man took a test with the Landscape Ontario Horticultural Trades Association the other day, and received another plaque to hang up on the wall. This one reads Certified Horticultural Technician – Hardscape Installation. That means that he was evaluated by the North American industry standard in written and practical testing, and was designated as achieving expertise at the tasks required in the field by a qualified judge. I always knew that you were certifiable, Peter! And now I know, certifiably what! Congratulations…
STOP THE PRESSES! The first photographs of Caiden Austin Savona Solti have arrived, and here they are… Great job, Danielle! He truly is the green apple of your eye! Big thanks to Stella and Debra, the midwives, and to the staff at Toronto East General Hospital for their help, and to all of you for your warm wishes. May Caiden be blessed with a long life, a healthy heart, and a village of family and friends to raise him with love.
HEAR YE HEAR YE! There is an heir to the house of Green Apple! At 6:58 p.m. yesterday evening, Danielle Savona gave birth to Caiden Austin Solti, who entered the world weighing in at seven pounds and two ounces, healthy and happy. Two midwives and a doctor assisted proud father Peter in the delivery. We still don’t have any images from the delivery room, but I bet that baby is probably going to look a lot like mommy and daddy did when they were his age. Sifting through old archival photos, I found these snapshots, and I’ll enter them as exhibit A and B. Congratulations to the happy family and all our relations. Life is an amazing miracle, let us treasure it! Caiden, we promise to do our best to turn this world around and make it a better place for every living thing — you deserve it!
JOHN’S YOUNGER BROTHER Peter James has concluded his tour of duty with Green Apple for the 2009 season. He’s still in high school, so last week he headed back home to Guelph to get ready for senior year. P.J. is popular with the guys on site, always in cheerful spirits and up for whatever. I snapped a shot of him a couple of weeks ago at the Manning Avenue job, and he was characteristically upbeat, as you can make out in the photo below. P.J., you will be missed! Good luck back at school, you will be remembered fondly…
