Addressing the challenges of a steep-grade mutual driveway, our task was to craft a front yard parking solution that prioritized safety and accessibility. The client sought an alternative to navigating the slippery incline during winter and required a level parking pad for ease and security.

To achieve this, we navigated a series of hurdles. Securing a curb cut extension from the city was vital, allowing us to create a 1.47 meter extension that facilitated access to the parking pad without compromising street parking. Our initial design underwent adjustments to seamlessly align the pad with the steep driveway for the initial 8 feet, smoothly transitioning to accommodate the limited curb cut extension.

Successfully overcoming these complexities, we secured city approval, enabling the project to move forward. Despite the intricate challenges, the outcome showcases a captivating tiered design that significantly enhances the home's curb appeal.

Ultimately, our design harmoniously balances form and function, providing a safe and visually striking solution for the property.

High Park North Front Yard Parking Pad

The front yard transformation at High Park required a diagonal parking pad due to the presence of a hydro pole obstructing the space.

The porch, worn down by multiple repairs over time, presented a mix of mismatched materials. To harmonize the new landscape, the redesign focused on revamping the porch with materials that complemented the updated surroundings.

To balance the addition of hardscape, the design incorporated vibrant plantings, enhancing both the appeal and softening the overall aesthetic.

Central Toronto Front Yard Parking Pad

Embracing the convenience of a parking pad within Toronto, this innovative 3D landscape concept brings together sleek Unilock U-Cara precast retaining walls and steps adorned with natural granite copings. The design features contemporary interlocking brick pavers, vibrant greenery, and a transformed porch boasting Timbertech PVC decking complemented by a striking aluminum railing. To enhance both safety and aesthetics, carefully placed nighttime lighting will illuminate paths and elevate the landscape's allure after dusk.


Upper Beach Front Yard Parking Pad

In the Upper Beach area, a contemporary architectural home faced challenges with a front asphalt "parking lot" causing basement flooding due to its slope toward the house.

The new design focused on using solid precast concrete blocks to raise the front yard, creating an appealing basement walkout area near the house. Steel staircases now lead to both the second-story front door and the basement walkout entry.

A striking walkway features dark flagstone amidst interlocking brick paving, while strategically planted tall Beech trees serve as a natural screen, shielding the view of a rundown neighbouring property. Ornamental grasses and boxwood hedges were artfully added to complement the home's modern style.

Lawrence Park South Front Yard Parking Pad

In the Lawrence Park South area, this home lacked on-site parking, a common issue with older Toronto properties. Due to a narrow mutual driveway, safe access to the backyard was a challenge.

Our task was to create a front yard parking space and assist in obtaining the necessary permit. Redesigning the porch was essential to seamlessly integrate it with the new parking area cut into the elevated front yard.

Opting for a contemporary aesthetic, we introduced a second set of steps to simplify garden maintenance. The planting scheme incorporated modern grass varieties, boxwood, and hydrangeas for a touch of blooms.

To imbue the design with a hint of classic charm, we selected concrete pavers that evoke an old-world appeal.

Beaches Diagonal Parking Pad

To give this city tree the birth it needed, this angled parking pad that wraps around it offers a nice touch by creating a buffer for greenery to hide and complement your parked vehicle partially. Here, a Yew hedge serves as a graceful partition.

At the top of the parking pad, an elevated planter filled with vibrant plants enriches the front yard, introducing more organic elements and visual dimensions.

Additionally, the precast steps and landing in front of the porch not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also serve a practical purpose, adding both intrigue and functionality.

This recently updated beachside residence boasts timeless Cape Cod aesthetics.

The newly designed front yard showcases charming cobblestone permeable pavers, a sturdy flagstone pathway with stepping stones, and a defining flagstone border outlining the adjacent garden.

To accommodate parking lengthwise in the new space, the existing front porch underwent careful modifications, allowing for a snug fit of the vehicle.

This unique modern landscape design exudes sophistication and warmth, blending lush herbaceous perennials like sedge with a striking Japanese Maple tree as its centrepiece.

Upper Beach 2 - Front Yard Parking Pad

This project involved enhancing the front yard of a residence in upper beach Toronto by adding a parking pad to alleviate the challenges of street parking, especially during peak times and weekends.

Considering the presence of a hydro pole, our design called for a diagonal parking spot, strategically positioned perpendicular to the shared driveway. Complicating matters, local regulations necessitated that the parking pad be located on private property due to permit parking restrictions on the street. This entailed navigating the Building Department's regulations and securing a variance from the Committee of Adjustments (COA) to meet zoning requirements.

We opted for a diagonal parking pad design for its ability to integrate greenery that provides a subtle barrier between the parked vehicle and the road, offering a semblance of privacy similar to that of a circular driveway. We eagerly await approval for this project and look forward to commencing construction.

Forest Hill South Front Yard Parking Pad

Front yard parking was very important for this client as there was almost no street permit parking spots for them to park. 

The existing elevated lawn was proposed to be brought down to the level of the neighbouring driveway and city sidewalk, creating opportunities for multilevel planting areas. 

The raised planters and plantings give this front yard a lush look despite having a parking pad. I would say that having a parking pad not only gives them the function they need but actually improves the look of their modest-sized front yard. 

Baby Point Front Yard Parking Pad

This recently renovated older home had a parking pad with a small walkway but no other landscaping. We were asked initially to prepare a design for the lawn area and convert it into planting. 

We ended up redesigning the whole front yard adding in a grander entrance with multi-level planting beds.

- Having convenient parking on your property in the City of Toronto is a privilege that many Torontonians are without. 

- We were hired to design and make an application for legal front yard parking and if granted permission, to install it.

- One of the requirements for getting approval is using a permeable paver for the parking pad. We used Unilock Town Hall pavers which gave the design a rich old world appearance while meeting the City’s rule.

- To bring a bit of modern to this project we introduced Eramosa polished flagstones for the walkway and the copings on the small planter walls. The intricate veining of this stone adds interest and is a conversation piece.

- The existing mature Japanese Maple’s red tones were repeated with the burgundy of the Coral Bells on the opposite side of the property. They also provide dramatic contrast with the lime green foliage of the Golden Variegated Hakonechloa. Repeated Bergenia and perennial Geranium’s add a cohesive and colourful complement.

- It is rare that a front yard parking design adds both function and a much better curb appeal to a property. One would have thought that adding all this paving would have turned the streetscape into a inner city parking lot but instead our design has given this front yard a WOW factor!

Bloor West Village Front Yard Parking Pad

The project aimed to address the client's need for a practical parking solution in their front yard due to the scarcity of available street parking. The challenge lay in adhering to Toronto's stringent regulations for front yard parking while ensuring both functionality and visual appeal, sometimes compromising on walkway space to meet soft landscaping requirements.

The outdated front steps with poured concrete "wings" were redesigned to harmonize with the new landscape aesthetics as per the client's request. Additionally, the client desired a facelift for the existing porch concrete slab.

To achieve a modern curb appeal, we opted for Permacon Melville Tandem wall with a smooth face, extending its use to the risers of the new porch steps for a consistent look. Banas Kota Black copings and tread pieces were uniformly employed to maintain design coherence.

Ultimately, the project delivered a successful transformation of the city front yard, marrying functionality with an aesthetically pleasing design.

Junction Front Yard Parking Pad

The lengths to which individuals will go to incorporate a parking pad in Toronto can be quite extensive, and this particular case was no exception. To accommodate a parking pad in the front yard of this older Victorian-style home, it was necessary to remove the traditional front porch and the classic hedge that encircled it.

The redesigned landscape features a parking pad with a classic black cobblestone appearance, as requested by the client, complemented by a modern, smooth, contrasting interlocking brick paver for the front walkway, laid out in a random design.

This path connects seamlessly with the natural stone slab steps that lead to the new porch entrance of the home.

A horizontal cedar board screen was installed to obscure the view of the neighboring garbage and recycling bins, a detail evident in one of the photos. This screen not only serves a practical purpose but also enhances the architectural aesthetics of the space.

The garden's design reintroduces elements of formal landscaping with the planting of Yews close to the house's foundation and boxwoods around the main garden area, offering structure and a refined look. Dwarf Lilacs and Bloody Cranesbill are incorporated for their seasonal hues, contrasting beautifully against the darker green foliage.

This transformation has resulted in a front yard that is not only more functional but has significantly increased the home's value and curb appeal.


Beach Parking Pad

The client was delighted to learn during their initial call with us that we could secure permission for a legal parking pad on their property.

The project faced initial challenges due to the presence of weed trees. Upon contacting the Forestry Department, we were informed that an inspection was necessary to determine if these trees were protected. Fortunately, the inspection was promptly conducted, and the trees were approved for removal.

For the parking pad, we opted for permeable pavers, accented with a striking black paver border and a complementary front walkway. This choice not only enhanced the functionality but also brought a modern edge to the design through its bold contrast.

The landscaping was revitalized with a contemporary touch, incorporating classic plants such as Daylilies, Hosta, Bergenia, Sedge, Salvia, Yews, and Cedars, blending traditional charm with modern aesthetics.

We preserved the existing porch, shed, and one fence panel while introducing a new screen on the yard's opposite side to harmonize with the existing fencing, enriching the cohesive look of the outdoor space.

As a result, the client gained not only legal front yard parking but also a visually stunning landscape that complements their home.

Beach Front Yard Parking Makeover

We successfully orchestrated a front yard transformation for our client in Toronto's Beach district, securing a coveted parking permit in the process.

Our design harmoniously blended traditional flagstone for the walkway and curbing, paired with a rustic cobblestone permeable interlocking brick paver for the parking pad. Complementing this was a contemporary planting scheme, adding a touch of modernity to the landscape.

Understanding the constraints of the parking pad's dimensions, we needed to rebuild a portion of the front porch to gain the length we needed. The client proposed upgrading the front porch railing to include a double gate to unload their groceries from the trunk of the car. Recognising the practicality, we seamlessly integrated this enhancement into the project.

The result? A legally approved front yard parking pad that not only met the client's needs but also augmented the home's value by an estimated $125,000.
